COSMETIC AND CLEANING PRODUCTS REGISTRATION
In order to carry out the import and marketing of cosmetics and cleaning products, it is mandatory to be registered as importer of such products.
REGISTRATION AS IMPORTER OF COSMETIC, CHEMICAL OR CLEANING PRODUCTS
Requirements
- File an application as importer of cosmetic, chemical or cleaning products, before the Board of Surveillance of the Chemical Pharmaceutical Profession.
- The application must be signed by the legal representative of the company and by the Chemist Pharmacist.
- Enclose a list of products to be imported with its corresponding technical report, safety sheet, etc.
- Cosmetic and cleaning products must be registered for marketing before the Board of Surveillance of the Chemical Pharmaceutical profession.
- The Board of Surveillance will inspect the warehouse where the products will be stored in order to verify the building’s conditions, if it meets the requirements for storage the registration as importer will be granted.

- Registration of Power of Attorney on behalf of the responsible Chemist Pharmacist before the Board of Surveillance. 5.71

It is also necessary to register each one of the cosmetic or cleaning products.
COSMETICS SANITARY REGISTRATION
Requirements
- Power of Attorney on behalf of the responsible Chemist Pharmacist.
- Certificate of Free Sale issued by the health authority, indicating registration number in the country of origin, name of the product, trademark; it must be in force and legalized by the Salvadoran Consulate or by Apostille.
- Qualitative/quantitative formula of the product.
- Method of analysis.
- Certificate of Analysis sealed and signed by the responsible person of the analysis.
- Two samples of the cosmetic product.
- If the label is not in the Spanish language, a proposition of a complementary label (we can elaborate it) must be submitted.
- This label must be included in a moment of marketing the product.
CLEANING PRODUCTS REGISTRATION
Requirements
- Power of Attorney on behalf of the responsible chemist pharmacist.
- Certificate of Free Sale issued by the health authority, indicating registration number in the country of origin, name of the product, trademark; it must be in force and legalized by the Salvadoran Consulate or by Apostille.
- Qualitative/quantitative formula of the product.
- Method of analysis.
- Certificate of Analysis sealed and signed by the responsible person of the analysis.
- Two samples of the product. If the label is not in the Spanish language, a proposition of a complementary label (we can elaborate it) must be submitted. This label must be included in a moment of marketing the product.
This process of registration takes about 1 month provided that the documents are complete.
